jwakamud Posted March 2, 2009 Report Posted March 2, 2009 i can best describe it as ticking. coming from the engine, and the longer the engine runs, the more pronounced the ticking gets. and its gotten worse over the last 2 weeks or so. initially i could only barely hear it while idling, now i can hear it most of the time once the car warms up. video link: http://s51.photobucket.com/albums/f356/jwakamud/video/?action=view¤t=Movie3249.flv i tried to get rid of as much background noise while filming, i took about 7 total recordings, but my sound on my computer has decided it no longer wants to work -- so i cant edit any of them down. this one seems to be the best. you might not even be able to hear it, but thanks for looking, if you do. any idea what it is? 94 Grand Prix with the 3.4L Quote
axisofjustice9c3 Posted March 2, 2009 Report Posted March 2, 2009 I am a newb here, so I don't want to give too much advice that may not be wanted. I can hear it, but it is faint, try some vids under the hod/revving? Quote
Jonpro03 Posted March 2, 2009 Report Posted March 2, 2009 Thats how mine started: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wm7ybkuvNIE and ended Quote
jwakamud Posted March 2, 2009 Author Report Posted March 2, 2009 were you able to find out about what it is? or is that just a doom and gloom . . . . either way, thanks for the input. that sounds like a full-blown version of what mine is sounding like. Quote
Jonpro03 Posted March 2, 2009 Report Posted March 2, 2009 I can only speculate, but I think I had a bent pushrod. Either way, I suffered from bad power loss and misfires, and eventually backfires before it was all over. Quote
oldscsc Posted March 2, 2009 Report Posted March 2, 2009 You two are talking about different engines. The OP is talking about a 3.4 DOHC while the responded is talking about (or at least posted a picture of) a 3400. Same displacement, totally different engines. Quote
AL Posted March 2, 2009 Report Posted March 2, 2009 JonPro has a 3100 pic lol... To OP: Stuck lifter? I need an underhood video Quote
