karrkrazzie
Wondering what mufflers would sound best on my LTZ for the cheapest... Want it to be as loud as possible without straight pipe or sounding like crap.
oldscsc
You might want to go with a muffler delete setup and just use an 18" resonator in place of the mufflers.
Cully77
L36? LTZ's confuse me... Until recently I thought they got the same engine set ups as the Monte Carlos. Anyway, if it is 3800, nothing sounds that good, but I like my magnaflows with the resonator still in place. Not that loud though. I think the most important thing with the 3800 is what ever mufflers you go with, just to keep the resonator, in my opinion is sounds too raspy/poppy without it. RobertISaar
Get a bigger cam, some open headers, and pull a vacuum line aaaaaannnndddd: whats the point of pulling a vaccum line? and i should have said i've never heard a nonstock 3800 exhaust in person... GP1138
i don't know what the 3800s sound like with anything other than the factory mufflers. In most cases, garbage. The 3800 is a difficult engine to get to sound decent. And God forbid you have a hole somewhere in the stock system, it sounds pretty much like a fart. axisofjustice9c3
Why do we seem to have so many 3800 (s/c or non) haters here? It's the quickest stock engine option available on w-bodies, why hate?
Night Fury
Jealosy! Nah, It is a pretty outdated engine and for a while it was really played out, but it is certinly the best engine I have ever had BY FAR!

I don't see any "haters", it just doesn't have a good exhaust note. Same with the LQ1, they are very difficult to make sound decent.

Noone's hating! The 3800 really does sound like ass with many aftermarket mufflers. Even the 3800 fanboys say that.

I didn't have any problems getting a good sound out of my LQ1 granted I have heard some really bad ones Jamie
karrkrazzie
My stock mufflers are starting to rust out... they already have some holes in them and it sounds decent now that I paid a little more attention.... Maybe I should just leave them until it starts getting raspy and sounding like total ass.
axisofjustice9c3
[/end overreaction] II guess in my seaches lately I have seen a bunch of negative 3800 threads by coincidence...
