95cutty96 Posted March 28, 2009 Author Report Posted March 28, 2009 Well I broke down and decided to just do a complete rebuild on the 3100 but I want to put a gear drive in it so if anyone knows where I could get one let me know ASAP thanks Quote
RobertISaar Posted March 28, 2009 Report Posted March 28, 2009 no such thing exists. that and if it did, i believe i was told the knock sensor would go fuckin nuts! Quote
95cutty96 Posted March 28, 2009 Author Report Posted March 28, 2009 Well that's not what I wanted to hear guys how about forged pistons? Quote
RobertISaar Posted March 28, 2009 Report Posted March 28, 2009 Well that's not what I wanted to hear guys how about forged pistons? i believe Probe is the only company that makes them? and i don't remember if you have to give them measurements first or not... expect 6-700 for a full set. not sure if it includes rings... tdvs Posted March 28, 2009 Report Posted March 28, 2009 Keep it in the family and do an Aurora swap. Someone was selling a hi-po engine, blocks, and shit load of other parts intended for Indycar use on ebay a while back. Tom Quote
19Cutlass94 Posted March 28, 2009 Report Posted March 28, 2009 why in the world would you want forged pistons on a stock rebuild? Quote
95cutty96 Posted March 28, 2009 Author Report Posted March 28, 2009 Who ever said it was a stock rebuild  Quote
RobertISaar Posted March 28, 2009 Report Posted March 28, 2009 why in the world would you want forged pistons on a stock rebuild? now that you mention it.... aren't garden-variety 3100 pistons good until like 8psi boost with an intercooler and a good tune? 95cutty96, what do you have in mind? Quote
19Cutlass94 Posted March 29, 2009 Report Posted March 29, 2009 Stock pistons are good for more than what you think. Considering you have the tune right. Quote
95cutty96 Posted March 29, 2009 Author Report Posted March 29, 2009 I just was just wanting to put in some forged ones just in case down the road some time I decide to use some cheater juice Quote
19Cutlass94 Posted March 29, 2009 Report Posted March 29, 2009 you dont need forged pistons for a shot of N2O. Unless your planing on a shot thats gonna blow up the whole motor and not just the pistons. But if your planning for a shot that big, you better rebuild/replace more than just pistons. Stock pistons are fine for a 75shot and a little more. Quote
Andrew Posted March 29, 2009 Report Posted March 29, 2009 I just was just wanting to put in some forged ones just in case down the road some time I decide to use some cheater juice you'll be safe up to a 75 shot with the stock pistons. Quote

SE7EN X RACING Posted March 30, 2009 Report Posted March 30, 2009 plan on a TB adapter or the 3500 TB or...... what about fuel delivery? with a 3100 bottom end and a stock PCM, running 3400 heads intake and plenum. wont this lean the car out?? becuase thats what a 65mm TB? Quote
19Cutlass94 Posted March 30, 2009 Report Posted March 30, 2009 It will lean it out, but the computer will cpmsensate for this. Unless its out of the allowable range. But really, it wont be a problem. Many have done it on the stock 3100 tune. Im running a cammed 3400 with P&P on the stock 3100 tune for now. And it hits 12.4AFR at WOT. Quote
