Cam'ron
So all of a sudden my 04 is making all sorts of weird noises, started off as a clunk that would appear with the slightest bit of steering wheel movement left or right (but only once, you could turn it all the way to bump stop both ways and it would only clunk once in each direction, right when you started moving the wheel). Now tonight when i try to video the clunk all it does is squeal essentially, i got it pretty good on video for a change its uploading now. Not a loud belt type squeal but a quiet rubbing kinda squeal. This all started today and at first i was thinking Intermediate shaft, but now with it changing from the thunk to a squeal im thinking it could be more rack related. Now the thunk was happening even at driving speed, change lanes and get a thud. So it isnt just a, well your tires aren't moving noise. I called the dealership and enquired about how much to replace the Int. shaft, and they said probably around $400... Now for my dumb question... where the hell is the power steering reservoir on the L67. Cant for the life of me see the cap anywhere. I know on the 3400 on the 03 it was right up top and visible by the alternator, but i haz a blower in the way... its not under the snout is it? I will get the video up right away and let me know what you guys think, this bugs me but unlike my ford i will spend the money to get shit fixed on this car

LukeZ34
Power steering reservoir is on the passenger side rear of the engine. Just peek down between the block and the firewall and you'll see it.
Cam'ron
gotta be under the alternator.... i looked back there and didnt see it lol
Cam'ron
dayum is that out of the way... i was really low on P/S fluid for some reason, never seen any evidence of a leak. Oh well got it topped up and i'll drive it a bit tomorrow and see how she acts. Got the ford running, still runs like shit but i needed something to get my ass over to the parts store
Cam'ron
well, took it for a drive tonight when i got home and the thunk came back... i think i might bite the bullet and pay for some shop time to get this checked out. I was hoping that i wouldnt use my extended warranty then i would have got $2000 back from the price of it, but if this is any deeper than the IS its gonna be expensive. 1990lumina
One of your lines for the p/S is probably leaking - if it was low then there is a leak it won't just disappear. Only other thing that I've seen happen was on a Jeep Liberty. Power steering fluid was gone - but NO evidence of a leak. I looked at the inner tie rod boots and they were all pressered up lol. So I stabbed the boot with a screw driver and the fluid came shooting out. New rack is in order if that is the case.
Cam'ron
Im thinking im just gonna take it in to the dealership and kiss my extended warranty goodbye, short of it just being a hose leak I do not see an inexpensive end to this. pisses me off actually, with the low as hell miles on the car i was actually looking forward to getting $2000 back from the warranty in May 2010
