jake91
Okay i confused my car has lost 1 quart of oil in 80 miles over 4 days since i changed it, but heres the twist there is no oil dripping on the ground and the engine isnt smoking either. Its not leaking into the coolent, or the trans. Also i havent been driving it any harder than normal, and it normaly burns of 1/2 quart of oil every 1000 miles. So what do you think. jake91
im starting to think that i didnt wait long enough to check the oil i waited 10-20 minutes to check it ater shuting off ther car, but i added 1/2 quart and now its a 1/4 quart high so i don think there was a problem and it was just a fluke

5speedz34
Wow, lol. Since the 3.4 (and most cars anyways) have complex and longing oil systems always wait to let the car cool down to get a good reading. As for filling the filter it isn't necessary except on turbo cars. Sometimes cars will get quoted with what the filter holds and what the engine holds. The 3.4 filter holds about a quart. Lastly, the 3.4 TAKES 5.5 qts TO FILL!!! This motor does not like oil starvation.

jake91
I always fill the filter regardless of the car. waht does it really matter you fill the car with oil. start it. it pumps oil through the filter and engine and around again. 5speedz34
I've never filled it I've always heard its overkill. The car is without oil pressure for what 10 seconds?! I mean its decent maintenance but most cars you can't fill the filter and get it on with the way it sits.
