AL
Heres my issue... I am debating which I should do... In either case, I will be replacing the clutch. Car/issue in question: http://www.w-body.com/forum/index.php?topic=71173.msg1010842#msg1010842 Option 1 details: The car needs a new alternator... But I dont know what else it might need further down the road... I know nothing about the history of the motor thats in it because its not the original motor... The PO bought the motor trans combo from a junkyard 92 Lumina z34... He couldnt get it running right so he sold it to me... He put a new timing belt on it and it is timed correctly... I have replaced the plugs, wires, battery, MAP sensor, fuel filter, pcv valve, serpentine belt and a couple other things, but I think it has a stuck lifter or something cause something is just not right about it. Option 2 details: I have a 93 GP SE parts car with a great running LQ1 and a perfect automatic trans... I could pull the motor out, sell the trans, and drop it in the 5 speed along with the new clutch... Before I bought the 93, I talked to the owner for an hour and learned most of the history of the car... I bought it off the original owner and have all the maintenance records of the car and engine... The oil pump drive seal leak was fixed and it cost him $600. I would like opinions please, and thank you.

Brian P
I'm all for fixing the problem. It would suck if you swapped the motor, and you have the same problem occuring

Venom
I say fix it unless you are absolutely certain the motor you would be swapping was in good condition.
