GP EXPERTS... Poly Dogbone Question!

Recommended Posts

I purchased a set of the FFP dogbones with BOTH side PLOYBUSHING sets.

I heard from one of the 97 up GP guys that using polybushing in the dogbones will wear out the tranny in about 10,000 mile due to the increased transmission of vibration.

Is there any truth to that? Has anyone experienced a tranny failing shortly after Polydog bone installation?

I can feel the increased vibration in the steering wheel and thru the floorboard...It doesnt bother me... But if its going to cause my tranny to die... Urrr well thats another thing.

Dave,

the 97 guy is WRONG....can he prove this?

I have FFP dogbones for my TGP, have self modified ploy dogbones in my TSTE (10K on them), and the ZZP mounts in my GTP, none are going bad, granted I follow some pretty strict maintenance, but have not ever herd of transmissions going bad from dogbone mounts, motor monts might be anouther story.

still cant get door open

k before yall go out and buy more FFP dogbones, know that DPB is coming out with poly dogbones that are like half as expensive, same (if not better) quality. just to let you guys know. oh and they'll be available for order within a few weeks! :D

it is possable that the tranny may angain may!! go out from extra vibration but it depends on the vibration

if it is like a miss in the motor yes it can and will go out if not corrected

i have seen autos go out from a miss did the tranny fired it up and there was a miss call the owner and asked how long it had the miss they said about 6 months

we had to explain what the miss was and how it felt

so in all it could go out but it depends on the type of vibration

hope this helps

A worn stock dogbone is far more likely to cause transmission problems than a nice stiff FFP dogbone. Sure you are going to feel more vibration, just as a good tranny shift kit will make your shifts stiff and short. That is how they are supposed to be. If you can feel it when you shift - say into reverse - with your stock dogbone, that is far worse for your tranny. Shifts aren't supposed to clunk, move your engine an inch or more, feel like mush, etc.
