Eaton M90 GenV vs GenIII. And L36 Compatibility.

All of these other posts about the l36's and superchargers got me thinking.

What are ALL the differences between the m90 genIII and genV. (Also, what happened to the genIV?)

Would a GenV be easier to do a top swap with?

I heard somewhere that it uses the l36 LIM, which in turn, wouldn't that mean that it uses the l36 heads too?

Just wondering...

Gen V is more efficient. thats why people swap to it. remember, its sits on a l32 series III engine, l67s are series II.

when going from l36-l67 you have to swap LIM's. the l32 and l26 may share the LIM but i doubt it.

-a gen 3 has a 68.5mm opening vs the 75mm opening on a gen V

-The Gen V has a larger outlet then a gen 3...thus if doing a gen V swap you will need an L-32 LIM to go with it...and L-67 one wont work w/ a Gen V....unless you do some cutting.....but i highly reccomend just getting an L-32 one.. u can get them cheap if u look around.

-If you plan on doing a top swap on an L-36 motor.....and want to go gen V you will need L-32 heads, LIM, alternator bracket, coil bracket, Crank pulley, all the necessary tensioners, pullies. You will also want an L-67 TB w/ an L-67 TB adaptor to a Gen V.......you cant use a Gen V TB on yer car cause its a drive-by-wire TB

I just did a Gen V swap on my L-67....and its pretty easy.....just u gotta drill a hole in the L-67 TB between the MAF and the Butterfly valve to put a vacuum fitting to run the vac. line from the TB to the Gen V.

Well, I wanted to see all of what I'd need, and how much it would cost, then decide whether or not to do it.

As of now, I have...

Eaton M90 GenV with the drive by wire TB.

With a matching LIM, So since it matches, I can only guess it's the L32 LIM.

The Harmonic Ballancer.

And an alternator which I'm suspecting will match with the rest of my stuff.

(Bought it all new at a garage sale for $80.00)

I know I can probably get around $500.00 if I sold it all...

But I might want to use it if I can get the other parts cheap enough.

On a side note,

my 96 regal is NOT Drive By Wire.

So I'm guessing that I'm going to have to pay more money for some TB adapter.

I couldn't find any junkyards near me with any L67's.

Found plenty of cars that DID have them, but they were all pulled and sold. (Same with the L36).

I'm suspecting I could get most of the things I need used, and the only things I'd new would be the belt and gaskets.

Would It be cheaper to buy a used L67 (if I can find one) and to convert that to the GenV blower?

that'd b twice the work....you can top swap an L-36 as long as you get the correct parts. You can get an L-67 motor for around $1,000 w/ lower mileage.

Keep in mind tho....yer regal is a 96....and even tho it is an L-36 idk if the wiring harness would b the same as the 97+ regals. If it is the same harness.... and you do a top swap.... all you would need are the pigtail extensions for the MAP sensor and the BBV....(boost Bypass Valve) You can get those on ZZPerformance.com.

You can also do an SS-M90 kit....wichh is specially for L-36 motors.... you can use yer stock heads. Again.... look on ZZPerformance.com under the Grand Prix section.....and you can find all that stuff in there.
