Water in oil and they say its not the head gasket.

My son in law has a 97 3.1 chevy with water in the oil. Mechanics tell him is not the head gasket.

Could it b the intake manifold gasket? I have heard of them failing, but not having that new of a car(mine is a 1990 3.1) I don’t know what it could be. Regardless it will be here in an hour. He hops my familiarity with the old 3.1 will be beneficial. What should I look for? He said he spent $700.00 to have the intake gaskets replaced a year ago.

Thanks in advance,

Jud

My '94 CS 3100 had water in the oil. The lower intake gasket was the culprit.
