jake91 Posted January 3, 2009 Report Posted January 3, 2009 thinking about painting the brakes on my car what color do you think i should go with here are some ideas red blue yellow black silver Quote
J Posted January 3, 2009 Report Posted January 3, 2009 blue only if you can match your cars color almost exactly with high temp paint, otherwise just go black Quote
jake91 Posted January 3, 2009 Author Report Posted January 3, 2009 that was my thoughts exactly on the blue Quote
Crazy K Posted January 3, 2009 Report Posted January 3, 2009 I say silver or black. x2. use HEADER paint! Quote
3pt1lumina Posted January 3, 2009 Report Posted January 3, 2009 Mine are painted red on my 96, (car is light blue) and they look okay. To be honest, if they weren't already painted I wouldn't have painted them. But if you are going to paint, I say silver or black. And use the heat temp paint...I painted the ones on my Laguna a cast gray to make them look original (since that was the look I was going for) and I used engine paint...and it's holding up fine. xtremerevolution Posted January 3, 2009 Report Posted January 3, 2009 I tried silver on my regal and it didn't turn out well. Its simply nothing special. I wanted something that would stand out a little bit more, so I'd say red would have been better. Black will look completely stock after a couple of months when enough dust gets on them. Red, if done right, looks great. Quote
1tinindian Posted January 4, 2009 Report Posted January 4, 2009 I think we have the same color of cars, and I posted this same question awhile back and decided on black, and I'm very happy with the results. The red in the picture is the brand of ceramic pads I bought. Leon Quote
oldscsc Posted January 4, 2009 Report Posted January 4, 2009 Leon, you and I both have Bright Aqua Metallic cars. Jake has Light Cloisonne (sp?) Metallic. It is actually a light blue instead of a turquoise. Quote

jake91 Posted January 4, 2009 Author Report Posted January 4, 2009 its what i thought my car was at first Quote
intern8tion9l Posted January 5, 2009 Report Posted January 5, 2009 i had red, then switched to silver. the silver was fara too plain so i switched back to red. go with something that stands out a little Quote
jake91 Posted January 5, 2009 Author Report Posted January 5, 2009 that why i thought blue would look good. i love red calipers, but i just dont think i would like how they looked on a blue car though Quote
gpchris Posted January 5, 2009 Report Posted January 5, 2009 whatever you do powder coat them.. Nothing else will last. Quote

gpchris Posted January 5, 2009 Report Posted January 5, 2009 how long will i get with high heat paint Depends.. None of it lasts that long.. Quote
J Posted January 5, 2009 Report Posted January 5, 2009 whatever you do powder coat them.. Nothing else will last. mine have been painted blue for about 6 years and are in GREAT SHAPE Quote
Cully77 Posted January 5, 2009 Report Posted January 5, 2009 how long will i get with high heat paint Depends.. None of it lasts that long.. I'm going ~20 months and still looks fresh. (Cleaned the brake dust off once with a plastic brush) I used duplicolor hi-temp engine enamel. Quote
3pt1lumina Posted January 6, 2009 Report Posted January 6, 2009 Mine are over four years old now and must have at least 60k on them, still look okay. Starting to show some wear now but nothing too bad yet. Quote

gpchris Posted January 6, 2009 Report Posted January 6, 2009 hell if i can get around 2 years out of it. i dont mind recoating it occasionaly For me they dont last that long. they start to chip if you try and clean them. god forbid if you have to change pads.. Powder coating isnt very expensive and its permanent, I would just go with that. Quote
jake91 Posted January 6, 2009 Author Report Posted January 6, 2009 how much is powder coating? i always thought it was expensive Quote
