White93z34
my euro burst its high pressure line tonight. I've changed it on 3.1s before with no problem, what all is involved with changing this bastard on a LQ1?
spiderw31
Based on what I saw with my car torn apart, you're not gonna have fun with the way the lines are routed. Around the back of the side of the motor, over the top of the alt, under the exhaust manifold and dp, and into the rack. Doesn't look like my idea of fun unless the back head was off. White93z34
that might be fine and all for home plumbing, but according the FSM that system puts out about 181psi also looks like I got my answer from the FSM disconnect steering pinch bolt, drop rear of cradle remove heatshield unbolt lines from timing belt cover and probably a bunch of extra steps and swearing. mra32
I didn't mean it like that. I knew damn well you were kidding Ahhhh, I see you wanted to highlight the magnitude of pressure you were dealing with. I admit, thats decently high pressure. But still. Its easy as 1, 2, 3... Brian P
I used that to fix a tire sidewall puncture once
GOT2B GM
I did it once by cutting a 18mm wrench in half to turn the fitting on the rack, accessing from above with the airbox/hose removed. Let the subframe up. It was a bitch. I wanna say try accessing it from the drivers side wheel well, undo pinch bolt, and lowering the drivers side of the subframe, that would probably do the trick. LuminaPower92
Factory times pay about 4 hours or so. I would have done my vert's when The motor and trans was dropped, but didnt need it. I will probably regret that decision.
White93z34
I got it done today. major pain in my ass. disconnect the steering column from the rack and let the rear of the subframe down and it is possible. would NOT want to do one again. ismellrealbad
my friend had an exhaust leak on his 89 bronco (5.0/302). one day while changing the oil i notice some garden hose running underneath the plenum. traced the wonder-repair and sure enough it was being used as an EGR tube with screw type hose clamps. the plenum needs to be removed to replace the tube so i guess they didnt feel like doing that ???
