1tinindian Posted December 25, 2008 Report Posted December 25, 2008 Does anyone know if they are wired the same, and if the complete steering columns can be swapped, one for one, and be a total plug-n-play? I have a J/Y column out of a cutty, and the whole tilt section is in better condition than the one in my car, and I want be make sure the SWC will still work, after the swap. I see the Cutty has climate controls, where the GP doesn't... will this be the problem, or does the climate control wires just get left unplugged? Thanks so much, and if you could lead me to a link, that would be great, also! Leon Quote
CSI_MuNkY Posted December 25, 2008 Report Posted December 25, 2008 The SWRC should still work. I'm finding the hardest part about finding a column for my car is finding one with the controls and the plug for the variable steering. Jamie Quote
5speedz34 Posted December 25, 2008 Report Posted December 25, 2008 Ya, you're car has Magnasteer so you will need to find a Magnasteer rack. With that said, please keep the GP steering wheel. The CS looks horrible and is huge. That or swap a 97+ wheel on. Quote
1tinindian Posted December 25, 2008 Author Report Posted December 25, 2008 The column I bought does have the steering sensor on it for the magnasteer. And the steerring wheel will be replaced with a nicer one out of a 1999 Bonneville. So you are saying this is a total P&P? Leon Quote
5speedz34 Posted December 25, 2008 Report Posted December 25, 2008 The column's are the same the only thing that's different should be the wheel. This is an assumption based on the interchangeability of GM's. Quote
CSI_MuNkY Posted December 25, 2008 Report Posted December 25, 2008 Yup, you should be good to go if its got the magnasteer plug... wish I could find one! Jamie Quote
