Oil Smell When I Use The Heater

Recommended Posts

My car is not leaking or burning oil, why am I smelling this? I notice this when I'm sitting at stoplights only. It's pretty faint. What gives? This is my first winter with the car. If I use AC I don't smell anything.

Could it be that you are smelling another car at the stoplight that is burning oil?

I don't know if it would be another car. My GF's Intrigue is the same way when it is stopped. Haven't been able to figure it out yet.

If you have a 3800, the valve covers are probably leaking a very small amount of oil onto the exhaust manifolds.

It would definitely be that or something related to oil dripping onto the exhaust manifolds and burning. I'm having the same problem with my Bonneville due to leaking oil cooler lines.

since its a century its a 3100. did you do an oil change and overpour/spill some on the exhaust. that will certainly do that
