Hey guys about to work on my drums. I bought some new drums and shoes and about to replace them on the 98 lumina.

I was gonna ask this, side from everyones tips and opinions.

When i break into my drum, do I have to bleed it?

I thought i could crack them open replace the shoes and that be it basically?

You don't have to bleed anything if just replacing the shoes. If you get in there and find the wheel cylinder is leaking and you end up replacing it - then you must be bleed.

See thats what i thought. If its not leaking then leave it alone. I am just making sure, someone who had done it on Volks wagon said they had to bleed them. I know they are not the same car but we were talking about drums, and I for one have never do it before so I was trying to get prepared for the worst

Ok guys, I am having an issue. I have got one side of the shoe on but i cannot get the other side one that hooks in with the emergency brake. Am I supposed to disconnect the emergency brake cable from the arm and then put everthing together and hook it up last? It is being the biggest bitch trying to get everything hooked in together because of the damn emergency cable.

I can understand why its a problem doing drums. Its not the work taking it apart, but putting it back together is the hardest thing to do.

OK I got both sides on the drum. I will have to take it apart again because the emergency brake cable isnt seated behind the dimple indentation behind the primary shoe. Jesus tap dancing christ lol :downsgun: I swear I cannot wait to get this done.

And the drum after (bottom Picture)

Any idea on how I can deal with that damn emergency cable? I have played hell trying to get it to seat right.
