heads up display height adjustment

i need the height adjustment switch/dimmer switch for my heads up display... i have a few questions though, does anyone know if the thing is actuated by a cable (the height adjuster is not working, and the lever is broken). it was very stiff when i got the car, i assume that's why the lever was broken, and it just stopped working all together (i assume the cable broke?) the local pontiac dealer's parts guy says there is no such part, and he knows nothing of these cars. i look like i'm 16, so he didn't really take me seriously (laughter). if anyone knows more about these, or has a used one lying around i would appreciate the info or maybe some part numbers? maybe i can rig something up if there isn't one available? thanks
