284 overhaul kit

So I have been looking early to find an overhaul kit for my tranny because I know its rare. Next year in school, we have to rebuild a manual transmission for credit. I went to 3 transmission shops in town to ask them about kits and all three had no idea it existed... They all three called there supplier and all three suppliers said they have 282 stuff but not 284 stuff... Where can I find an overhaul kit for our transmissions?

To our knowledge no.

 

If you looked in the other 284 thread Adam provided a link you should look at.

 

The only "rebuild" is a exchange program with GM dealer's and Getrag. You give them your transmission as a core and you get a new rebuilt one. I was told this was discontinued a few years ago.

When was the thing on all-data posted? I never saw it a year ago when i had access to it.

 

I posted the number for Getrag's NA hq call them I'm sure you can chase something down.

I will double check when it was posted on Monday when I go back to school... That link didnt give me alot of info because I dont know that much about manuals yet. What I did get is "dont touch them."
