92turboLE Posted August 20, 2003 Report Posted August 20, 2003 Would the Getrag 282 out of the W-Bodies happen to be the same Getrag 282 that is in some of the 3.1 Cavaliers??? I was talking to my buddy austin who has a 90 cavi with a Getrag 282 and the 3.1L - Justin Quote
92turboLE Posted August 20, 2003 Author Report Posted August 20, 2003 otherwise though, one could theoretically bolt one right up??? - Justin Quote
Jeorge Posted August 20, 2003 Report Posted August 20, 2003 yep would mount right in.... same as in the grand am, Beretta, and corsicas too and a local Junk yard here has all of them...but hes holding the one GP 5spd for me... Quote
92turboLE Posted August 20, 2003 Author Report Posted August 20, 2003 so how different are the ratios in the 2??? the W-Body 282 vs. the L-body 282. In theory, i should be able to pull one out of a retta or cavi and drop it right into my GP??? - Justin Quote
92turboLE Posted August 20, 2003 Author Report Posted August 20, 2003 also, is the power handling different??? can the L-Body 282s take more then the W-body??? what other issues would i have with this??? what about the chip??? I have the memcal out of a GP with a 282, would that work in my GP with the L-Body 282??? i also am getting that W-Bod 282 this friday or saturday for Malibuolds. thanks for the help. - Justin Quote

In theory, i should be able to pull one out of a retta or cavi and drop it right into my GP??? Correct. They shouldn't be a problem. To find ratios, I would search the Beretta.net site and ask around. Also, check YOUR RPO code because that holds the ratio numbers. If you finds another non-W-Body manual tranny with the same RPO, it'll be a direct swap; ratios and all. - Erik Quote
Robby1870 Posted August 21, 2003 Report Posted August 21, 2003 Go to brian89gp's website. It's got all the ratios for all the different versions of the 282 Robby Quote
