TGPilot
I love how the tire smoke drifts over to the other lane...like a fog of defeat to the other guy before he even starts!! Looks awesome man!!!
TurboZ24
Did some pretty big smoke shows there...... I wanted to raise the boost past 12 psi, but had regulation problems. It was a good thing we couldn't raise the boost, because the driver's side outer CV joint failed when we pulled into the Hotel parking lot. I'm sure with more boost, it would have blown on the track. All I have to do is bitch at http://www.driveshaftshop.com that their chromemoly axles only lasted 3-4 trips to the track. I was hoping that by October, I'll have the ignition finely tuned (it's still pretty rough, way on the safe side), then run again when it isn't 95+ degrees outside and see what she can do, then raise the boost past 12 (using my 2 stage boost control....) to see if we can get kicked off the track. z24 turbo 93
they guy in the green car has a 3.8 turbo in it......curtis says he is running like 9-12 psi he really didn't know but says the car will only run on race gas because the compression is so high with that engine........however i suppose he could turn boost down and run regular gas. ryan
TurboZ24
Yeah, that was Frank's 3800 NA with a turbo setup.

TurboGTU
Dam thats exciting. Only on 12psi..dam dude. Dam. Imagine 15psi... Dam axles. I know dam well thats a 11.9 car. That 1-2 shift can be an ass. Or is it your syncros. How about light power shifting...where you lightly let of the gas without closing the throttle and using the clutch to gently release without lossing traction. Just something I was going to try on my brothers 5spd turbo coupe. Or you just dont want a heavy roll cage. 8) Rock on man! I'll be glad if I even hit mid 13s. With an auto of course...if it holds. TurboZ24
The syncros will not engage at high rpm. It's fine if I shift like before 6K, but we usually shift out at 7000-7400 rpm and it will not engage unless you let it spin down a little. TurboZ24
Yes, those are Cavaliers. I'm still using the HM-282 tranny that was stock in that car. I did blow up one differential so far, blown 1 stock style axle and 1 http://www.driveshaftshop.com chromemoly one, which I have to send back now..... topless94style
 wow. i now have more respect for cavs.
1trucavalier
its not so much thats its a cav, its the same motor we have with 5-speed getrag and turbo. He just did his homework. Whats the real plus is the lighter weight of the cavalier VS the gp. Most of us are spending a majority of our performance money trying to keep these things running. Aaron
im surprised you beat that green one so bad, cuz id think a SC 3.8 would wreak havoc on a turbo 3.1 off the line.
hey1bum
it's all in the driver.... really nice videos. I had my roommates crappin themselves. Pretty hot to see a Cav burn the tires like that. Nice work.
1trucavalier
judging from the 12.67 run curtis absolutely killed him in the launch, and was rapin him on his shifts. He obviously knows his car and when to shift it. It also proves that there is no replacement for displacement. 3.8 vs 3.1 with identical mods the torque of the 3.8 is just to much. Did you notice between shifts how much ground the 3.8 gained vs the 3.1. Either way both cars are absolutely awesome.
