Checking the fuel filter...............

I went to Grismer for an Oil change yesterday, and they told me that I needed a new fuel filter. I want to check this myself...mainly to save money from having to go to a mechanic. I know to test a fuel filter you take it out and blow on it. I was just wondering how much resistance should there be as far as air being pushed through the filter, before it needs to be replaced? I mean a fuel filter at AZ is only 7 or 8 bucks but like they say..."if it aint broke, don't fix it". Thanks for any help guys.

When I changed my first fuel filter ever, I gained 5 mpg (was on my 90 Lumina) and I couldn't believe it. So now every 15k it gets done.

So if you have no idea how old it is, it's cheap enough to do. It's just regular maintenance. I'd do it.

I need to change mine.

Pretty much replace every 2 years.

even when it hasn't moved in that time frame?

I'm talking about the Grand Prix.

I would change the one on the lumina no matter what because the gas is probably caramelized in the tank.

change it.

a little PB blaster on the metal lines 15 minutes before hand and a vice grip was all it took to get my stock one off.

took me 5 minutes....even on a lowered car w/ no jacks.
