jake91 Posted December 5, 2008 Report Posted December 5, 2008 My neighbor who works as a mechanic for gm gave us a couple bottles of injector cleaner he got from work. I should trust him but i still am curious. See i have a thing about putting anything in my car thats not oil or gas. So i was wondering can any harm come of using this stuff, and if any of you have used it what did you think. Quote
jake91 Posted December 5, 2008 Author Report Posted December 5, 2008 this is it. he said it is what they use up at the chevy dealership where he works Quote
DeathScythe Posted December 5, 2008 Report Posted December 5, 2008 The Honda dealership I was working at switched to MOC and I thought it was shit. I hated that they got rid of BG which we were using at the time. I personal will not use any of MOC's products any if they would pay me to use them and that should say something since I;m broke. Addicted To Boost Posted December 5, 2008 Report Posted December 5, 2008 Go fill up your tank at a Chevron Station. They supposedly have Techniron cleaners mixed with their gas. I know my Ranger gets about a 4 MPG increase running Chevron gas versus say the gas at Sam's Club. Quote

I know my Ranger gets about a 4 MPG increase running Chevron gas versus say the gas at Sam's Club. thats likely due to non-ethanol vs ethanol. i dont really believe in injector cleaners. if anything just use Seafoam. Quote
DeathScythe Posted December 6, 2008 Report Posted December 6, 2008 Independentfool is right. Seafoam is the greatest. My intake runners looks like shit till you get to the injectors and then they are spot free. Quote
Pontiac6KSTEAWD Posted December 7, 2008 Report Posted December 7, 2008 Kinda off topic, but Injector cleaners on 2000 model Nissans and earlier would somehow burn up a injector. On Topic, I dont do injector cleaner. The most I will ever put in my tank is Sta-bil, and HEET, for obvious reasons. Quote
95 vert Posted December 7, 2008 Report Posted December 7, 2008 Heet is usless-save your money. Chevron Techron is the only cleaner that I found that actually works. Quote
MonteCarloChick Posted December 7, 2008 Report Posted December 7, 2008 There are no Chevrons around here Quote
Addicted To Boost Posted December 7, 2008 Report Posted December 7, 2008 I've only used Chevron Techniron and Seafoam. Not sure how well they work, but every car I've owned has run great after seafoaming the intake then adding a bottle of Techniron to the gas tank. Quote
Addicted To Boost Posted December 7, 2008 Report Posted December 7, 2008 I've noticed my Ranger gets noticeably better mileage running Chevron gas here in Phoenix versus gas at sam's club. It pulled off 29.2 MPG on sam's club gas and averages 33-34 MPG with Chevron. Quote
carkhz316 Posted December 7, 2008 Report Posted December 7, 2008 It's all the same shit. Mechanic-in-a-can; with the exception of probably Sea-Foam. None of it will will hurt anything. It's just that it doesn't really make any difference. Doin the intake clean with seafoam is legit though. Quote
carkhz316 Posted December 7, 2008 Report Posted December 7, 2008 Seafoam = $9 a can here Ouch, cheapest I find around Wadsville (Wadena) is at our local Fleet Supply, 4.48 a can, I think. Quote
94Z34OWNR Posted December 7, 2008 Report Posted December 7, 2008 Isn't seafoam just kerosene? I heard that stuff was bad on plugs.i have a can im afraid to use through the booster but i might eventually just pour it in my gas tank. Quote
MikeP2389 Posted December 7, 2008 Report Posted December 7, 2008 seafoam works wonders. its only bad on the plugs if there really old. Quote
Guest GrandPrixlover1 Posted December 7, 2008 Report Posted December 7, 2008 Seafoam is supposed to be a 100% Petroleum product, which they say is safe for all engine components. Of course they can say anything, but I atleast haven't had any problems so far. If you wann be safe go with Lucas. I hear that is a great way to go as well. Quote
slick Posted December 7, 2008 Report Posted December 7, 2008 General rule of thumb: Run seafoam Change oil Clean plugs Quote

lb79theone Posted December 7, 2008 Report Posted December 7, 2008 yup seafoam is safe, thats all Id use. Quote
3pt1lumina Posted December 7, 2008 Report Posted December 7, 2008 When I first buy a car, I Seafoam it. That's pretty much about it. Quote

I think Nissan issued a recall for them. They would stick open and hydrolock the engine when trying to cold start it. Had a few at my old job come in with just that kind of issue. Lots of $$$ to fix if Nissan doesn't want to cover it. Quote
