GP1138
So tonight while sitting outside Meijer waiting for the wifey to get a prescription filled, I noticed that the previously moderately quiet metallic whirring of the A/C compressor had now become a chattering clattering melee. Has anyone noticed these compressors grenade after becoming insanely noisy?
White93z34
I'd bank on it failing sooner then later. Seek a replacment. Every one that I have heard do that has gone from bad to worse rapidly.
3pt1lumina
Mine started making noise like a bell ringing, but turned out to be the A/C Clutch... but it doesn't sound like you are describing the same sound, so I'd start the search for a replacement. Night Fury
The one in my Ciera SCREEEEEECHED to HELL right before it bit the dust... It hag metal shavings everywhere and everything!
5speedz34
Shit....I hope mine doesn't go bad Mine is rusted by the bearing and I think that is where my "cricket" sound is coming from. Otherwise it's fine and the AC works.
Night Fury
And from what I understand... The A/C in these cars goes by the saying "use it or loose it"
5speedz34
If you don't use you won't loose it. How does that even work? You might have a compressor seize up from lack of use, but I don't see anything else giving you problems.
