BXX
Well, ive had a shot compressor for a while on my 96 CS. This summer I removed ALL the lines, leaving only the evap core (didnt feel like removing the dash again ), compressor, and condensor. I picked up the A/C bypass pulley kit from Napa. Ran me $36 Installation was a breeze. Best if the car was on a lift. Part number through Napa is 600-1853. List price is $51.95, My shop discount made it $36.87 -Evacuate A/C system if not already done -Remove serpentine belt, auto tensioner only needs a 3/8" drive ratchet -Unbolt lines to compressor. Should be a 10mm bolt holding them on -Cut, remove, ziptie the lines outta the way, do what you want with them. I just removed all of them -Unplug electrical connection to the compressor, flat blade screwdriver works best -Ziptie electical connector outta the way or cut it off and seal the ends -Unbolt compressor from engine. 3 15mm bolts. I used air tools, but a 15mm deepwell and a ratchet works -Drop compressor out, discard, pee on it, shoot it, do what you want with it -Install bypass bracket and pulley unit with 3 15mm bolts -Tighten securely -Install serpentine belt, making sure its on the grooves correctly -Start engine and run for 5 minutes, watching to make sure belt tracks right. Dont stand in its path if it flies off -Turn off engine -Retorque bypass unit bolts, making sure they are plenty snug Now enjoy not having a noisy or seized compressor robbing you of power and gas mileage!!! I know mine was horrible! Mine has been seized for about a year, its was pretty hard to turn it by hand on just the pulley. Trying to turn it with the clutch was almost impossible
rockfangd
nice. I did mine 2 years ago and i was afraid it was going to be shitty for design but it still works great. Also very easy to install
98montels
Do you know if they make one of these for a 4.6 northstar?
