91GranSport
Damn, I never knew the W-Body came with a stock tranny cooler. Any chance the Regal GS 3800 TPI V-6 came with one?
patgizz
when it comes, take a look at your stock cooler. i have a b&m cooler on my truck and its the same exact thing less the w-body specific mounting brackets. i've got a monster engine oil/trans fluid combo cooler now. i dunno if your 3800 car came with one, but the dohc cars have one in front of the radiator. fleetwoodguy79
My 95 3100 has one that goes through the radiator, but I added one for the DOHC swap just to make sure this thing will be cool after 6500 rpms :-).
GrandPrix34
umm, if you are referering to the one on the driver side that is lined up vertically, that one is the A/C Condenser..
Guest TurboSedan
i have a complete tranny cooler setup from a '90 Turbo STE...um for sale it includes all lines, the cooler (about 4x8x1 inches or so and it mounts in the passenger side front fender), the cooler 'air box' and the ducting to the front of the fender and meets up to a 90' metal elbow that catches air from the front of the car and routes it to the cooler. is the Turbo STE tranny cooler any different than the stock Grand prix DOHC tranny cooler or was it ASC/Mclaren specific? just curious joshua
patgizz
the stock dohc cooler mounts right in front of the radiator on the passenger side, different than a turbo car one.
GrandPrix34
well, i got the my tranny cooler today... Patgizz, i owe you a BIG apology cuz i waz talking outta my ass.. sorry On another note, i DID NOT install the cooler on my car...after a long discussion wit my dad, i decided to instead give him the tranny cooler cuz he says there is little to no difference between the stocker and the one i just bought...said that i i wanted to have a cooler tranny level, that i should head to a boneyard and get a fan assemblyu off another car and run it to a swtich...good idea, just nver thought about it.... BUT all was not a waste, i did install my hypertech 160* thermostat. It only took my 15 MINUTES!!!!!!! HA! Put that in your muffler and smoke it!! haywire4130
be careful with the 160 thermostat, the thermo on my girl's 92 grand prix was stuck open and on the highway, the lock up convertor kept locking and unlocking on me. (it wouls keep shifting up and down like every 30 seconds) turns out, the computer will not lock up the convertor till the engine reaches a certain temp. i'm not sure exactly what temp, but if it's higher than 160, you will have problems. just wanted to toss you a heads up. i wish my local junkyards had turbo 3.1's! believe me, i check almost every week! i just put head gaskets in her car (2 hours ago), it was a shame not to be doing that to a turbo motor in my garage as opposed to the stock motor in the car! speed safely! thedeef
anyone know if a 90 lumina 3.1 would have a stock trans cooler? thanks deef
Whiskey River
anyone know if a 90 lumina 3.1 would have a stock trans cooler? thanks deef It has a trans cooler but not like what these guys are talking about. The cooler is located in the radiator. Look down either the right or left side of your radiator and you should see 2 metal lines run to it. That is your tranny cooler.
