I believe the firewall clearance is different (less) in the early w-bodies vs the '93+ w-bodies.

Oh, I thought you were trying to argue that it would be pointless to upgrade to 3" when it is necessary for anything above 250 horse. which is not all that hard to achieve with a tgp.

Quit posting your misinformation as fact. Jeff(kuntzie) put down 302whp and 409wtq through the stock TGP downpipe. That was stock engine + a larger turbo(GT2871R).

EDIT: Sorry for the semi-offtopic post guys.

yes that is 100% true.. i dont remember the guy that put the 3" downpipe on his auto but i am sure it was on stock manifolds with a modified x-over for his t3 flange... as for my downpipe GOT2BGm is right, way craizer then stock..

this is my 3" downpipe

also turbo 3800 guys, including my self have made (me) 311whp on 2.5" downpipe, my exhaust was stock after the cat on my lumina with these numbers...

some grand prix uys have done well over 400whp on a 2.5" downpipe aswell

Umm, what kind of BOV is that? Also I should be getting the car back very soon, pics will then be up. Sorry for the wait.

When god said there will be turbos, kuntzie's TGP is exactly what he had in mind

lol, its what the ARTICLE said not me stating it was necessary. I am not stating as a fact that it is necessary, the only way to tell for sure is to dyno it before and after. I do think it might be necessary if you want to squeeze every horsepower out of your build.

come on mfewtrail, do you really think I am that dumb to think you NEED 3" exhaust to achieve 300 hp??? please...

I would never state misinformation as fact, thats bullshit!!!

and another thing I noticed about that article is they never mentioned any actual loss of performance as a result of too large a pipe, they just repetitively mentioned that less restrictive is better for any turbo back system. I was just trying to avoid quoting the whole thing for you guys and hoping you would just read it for yourself. I'm the one misinformed?? misinformed by a guy who works for Garrett?

Ya' should threw some quotes in there or said you were quoting an article.

 did you read the article?????

go back and read the article again. this time read it very carefully.

I only read the last page of this thread before chiming in, so I didn't see the article link a page or so back.

just so long as you know I do not and never on any forum have I EVER stated bs as fact. I am very sensitive about that because others have already tried to give me a bad name with similar wording, and I guess some people have bought in to that when its totally not true.

I just wanted to bump this up so people saw what I did.

Is anyone planning on making some larger than stock DPs, or should I just get one made/make one?
