jwakamud
so my car has this problem, right. where if i drive it for awhile and let it get to operating temp, itll overheat if i put it in drive/neutral. if i leave in it park the temp seems to remain pretty steady, and if i rev it to 3k RPMs itll cool down. if im driving on the highway, its perfectly fine. so i went to test the fans. turned on the car and turned on the Max AC, checked the fans; they werent on. so i let it get to 210* and turned the AC off, and they didnt come on. so i checked the two fan relays in the relay box, they both switched when given power. so i checked the box itself with the voltmeter, and the one of the left (i think it was fan 1) was constantly giving 13, while the one of the right (fan 2) never gave 13 (even with AC and/or temp above 210*, nothing changed). i then connected the circuit myself through the box, and fan 1 would come on, while fan 2 wouldnt. the motor for fan 2 is fine, as i gave it power directly from the battery and it came on. recap: fan 1 (passenger-side) will come on if i manually connect the circuit through the box, but not with the relay in place. the relay is good (i tried it with two new relays). fan 2 (drivers-side) will come on if i give it power directly from battery, but no power is getting to the box it seems, much less being transmitted through the box. both motors are fine. both relays are fine. sorry if its not real coherent, ive been taking the fuel rail off the 95 in a closed garage; the fumes were pretty bad. and its been a long day. any ideas? thanks in advance. jeff
ns87
On fan 1: Test the fan plug when you think the fans should be on. See if the plug gets power. On fan 2: Not too sure
