ZOOMOLDS
ok so is this even possible to pull the damn motor out the top and leave the trans in the car.. well I have tried cause I just could not come to grips with dropping a motor out of a car.. Just didn't seem right.. so I am half way there.. I have one driveshaft out and looks like I am gonna jack the damn thing up to the sky and drop it out the bottom.. I have a 3.4 with only 25,000 on it to replace the one with 130,000. So any tips you guys have for me .. lemmie know... i think i have thrown every tool I have.. patgizz
#1 what year? #2 ABS or no? pulling the engine and leaving the trans in the car should be an EASY job, pull the wiring harness out with the motor. i've done them from the bottom and the top, only thing doing it from the bottom allowed me to do was leave stupid stuff like ac lines, radiator right in place. ZOOMOLDS
it's in a 91 olds cutlass.. no abs.. so which way is easiest? And since I am pretty far into it.. what things should i remoe and what should i leave? I just can't get the engine off the trans.. I can get it separated 2 inches and that is all.. I pulled the pass side drive shaft and unhooked the trans from the engine by the alt. I was hopin that it would just pop out.. wow was i wrong.. patgizz
remove the 3 bolts that hold your torque converter to the flexplate, if you havent already. then, pull it to the pass side about an inch and straight up and out. there is a cover down by the starter to get the bolts out. mdelorie
easiest removal - reinstallation method? through the bottom with everything (tranny, wiring) still attatched? provided you can rig it. My Jack goes up to like 24 or 26 inches... so that should be good for the car, no?
