Crimson Fury Z Posted November 16, 2008 Report Posted November 16, 2008 this has started recently when the weather turned cold. the wipers aren't working until the car gets to operating temperature. this has been rather annoying since it has been occasionally raining all week. do wiper motors go out gradually or do they just stop at once? i'm leaning towards this being a wiring problem. whats do you think? GP1138 Posted November 16, 2008 Report Posted November 16, 2008 I don't know, I see so many of those Impalas and GP's with wipers that have outright failed. It does sound like a wiring issue though, or like a short. Quote
rockfangd Posted November 16, 2008 Report Posted November 16, 2008 it could be a bad switch but i would lean towards a bad motor. When they work do they park properly, and do the work good Quote
ns87 Posted November 16, 2008 Report Posted November 16, 2008 I don't know if your wipers turn on like mine do on my lowly 1990. But I need to push the stalk forward a bit and hold it in order for the wipers to work when cold. If I don't, they stop in mid motion on the windshield Quote
Crimson Fury Z Posted November 17, 2008 Author Report Posted November 17, 2008 when they work, they do the job. i waited till the car got to the operating temp, turned them on and they "hiccuped" and worked normal. if its the motor, i might also check the passenger side air filter while i'm there. i sorta dread working on the car after replacing the thermostat. 3.4>3400 in that category fo sho!
