Instrument Panel Removal? (96 Regal)

I'm doing a LED interior light conversion.

 

I can get the I/P ALMOST all the way out,

 

BUT the shifter cable holds it on!

 

How do I remove the shifter cable?

 

Also,

 

With the drivers side window controller, HOW DO I OPEN IT!

 

It's all just a giant rectangle! :-S

If your having trouble removing and opening parts, I dont recommend actually swapping in LEDs... removing and opening stuff is 100 times easier than swapping the LEDs

Well I already have the 5 stock lights out, and soldered 2 LEDs into each light "hole". But I wanted to try to see if I could get the needles to be a different colour.

 

It's all put back in right now.

I bought 100 3mm Blue LEDs with resistors for 13.2volts.

I think the eBay username was Asia Engineer,

they have a VERY bad viewing angle, and direct most of the light within maybe 30*. :-/

Also took out my ABS light...

 

I KNOW I don't have ABS.

Yeah, there are narrow angle and wide angle LED's. You just have to know what your shopping for.

I have the same problem with the narrow angle, I have found ways around it for the most part. I didnt find any wide angle ones so I got the same LEDs he did..

I had 3 $10.00 off shipping coupons, so I looked for something with high shipping, and low price.

 

BUT

 

it's very dim.

 

can't see in the daytime.

 

Looks sweet at night.

 

I took a dremmel to the very edge of the trim, and just pressed the light in there.
