Nick1234
Anyone else have these tires? I got them put on tuesday, and then my friend did an axle seal/oil pan gasket on it yesterday, and then today the steering wheel was cocked to the left and it handles like shit, on the freeway, if you move the wheel back and forth a little, it just floats all over the place and its like the back is going one way and the front the other. No play in the front tires up and down side to side. All tire pressure is the same, tie rods are tight. stabilizer links look same on both sides. i don't know if its just from the rubber being so soft, by why all of the sudden is the steering wheel off. AL
maybe your friend messed something up with the axle seal
Nick1234
he is a tech for GM and the car was serviced by him at the dealer he works at. Everything looks fine. Took both front tires off, no movement in anything, everything is connected. He said the steering rack is leaking, but it prolly has been so i don't think that will cause the problem. BXX
Something is either loose, or even the control arm bushings took a crap. For one, Kumho Solus tires suck for true handling... Everyone i have ever installed on a car, they have come right back complaining about poor handling.. Just my 2 cents on real life experience Also, your wheel is crooked which means the alignment is off. That will screw up handling pretty good. After replacing the axle seal, the car shoulda had the alignment checked and adjusted if it was off..

My buddy completely wore through a set of 2 fronts (Kumho Solus) on his 92 Daytona in 4,000 miles. They really suck for handling and wear. I guess I shouldn't talk.. I wore through a set of Dunlops on my 5-speed in 5,000 miles cough cough spirited driving I've also heard from others that Kumho tires aren't all that great. This set has been wearing really well and they handle great.
Brian P
Keep in mind that new tires will feel squirmy when compared to your old tires which were likely worn and had a bigger contact patch. Every time I buy new tires, it takes at least 1k miles for them to feel 100%. All that slippery glaze crap has to wear off and the tread needs to "break in", to put it simply. Alignment's another issue and it depends on how he removed the axle to get at the seal. If the axle is pulled out without removal of the strut housing or disconnecting of the tie rods and ball joint then it *should* be okay. Being that your wheel is off-center though, leads me to believe something else was knocked out of adjustment.
