harrydunn Posted November 13, 2008 Report Posted November 13, 2008 ...for a 52K mile one-owner (older couple) '97 red coupe with a spotless AutoCheck record? I've located one at a dealer and he's well over bluebook but I'd be willing to give him a grand more or so for the miles and overall condition. No leather, power seat, CD or sunroof. Bluebook I believe is right at $4,000. I really want the car as I doubt I'll find many like it with one-owner 'easy' miles. He put four new tires on it as well. Thanks. Quote
jeremy Posted November 13, 2008 Report Posted November 13, 2008 $3k would be the most I would pay, and that is only if it were Series IV. Quote
harrydunn Posted November 13, 2008 Author Report Posted November 13, 2008 $3,000 would bea steal in my opinion. It's a Series II. I'm just not sure if I'm going to see many 52K mile '97's come around...but I don't want to get screwed either. He's definitely high but not insanely high. Quote
LuckoftheGTP Posted November 13, 2008 Report Posted November 13, 2008 It depends on where you are. In NY, Ive seen similar olds for around 3K with close to 100K miles on it. For 3K I would take it. Quote
harrydunn Posted November 13, 2008 Author Report Posted November 13, 2008 Since it's at a dealer, he's well above $3,000. Well above. Almost double! I guess I will pass. He won't budge. I'm not a big fan of buying from dealers! Quote
IRONDOG442 Posted November 13, 2008 Report Posted November 13, 2008 Offer him $4,900 and tell him its; $,4900, Tits, or GTFO !!! Quote
IRONDOG442 Posted November 13, 2008 Report Posted November 13, 2008 Then let him sit on it, literally !! Quote
Brian P Posted November 13, 2008 Report Posted November 13, 2008 Offer him $4k and when he says no, tell him you'll be back in 6 months when it's still on the lot with now-dry rotted tires and offer him $3k Quote
harrydunn Posted November 13, 2008 Author Report Posted November 13, 2008 The sales manager balked at $5,000!!! Said no way he's letting it go for that. The salesman wants to work with me but his sales manager is holding him back basically. Bummer. Quote
ns87 Posted November 13, 2008 Report Posted November 13, 2008 Listen, I like w bodies as much as the next guy. But you could get a much cooler car for $5,000. 2000ish Maxima, Mazda 6 Late 90s BMW 3 series Quote
Brian P Posted November 13, 2008 Report Posted November 13, 2008 Like I said, go back in 6 months Quote
White93z34 Posted November 14, 2008 Report Posted November 14, 2008 52,000mi or not it is still almost 12 years old. for $6000 you could find something far newer. Like Brian said, go back in 6 months and see what he says then. what options did it have? Quote
IRONDOG442 Posted November 14, 2008 Report Posted November 14, 2008 It had the "Fuck All" options group ! Quote
White93z34 Posted November 14, 2008 Report Posted November 14, 2008 in that case. nuts to that. buy a car off Rob for less then $6000, and you'd get something newer with fairly low miles. Quote
IRONDOG442 Posted November 14, 2008 Report Posted November 14, 2008 Robs inventory is limited to an Oldsmobile whit more miles than the space shuttle, and a Buick that I stole from your grandpa! Quote
Brian P Posted November 14, 2008 Report Posted November 14, 2008 It had the "Fuck All" options group ! Ah the series "FA" Quote
