push rod & tranmission?

I have a 1993 Lumina with 3.1 n/a & 3 speed auto with 200,000 miles on it the engine has never been taken apart but tranny fluid/filter changed (not flushed) around 189,000 :burnout:

1. Well the  do the push rods spin while the engine runs  I do not remember.

2. this thing has some sort of lock up converter right? & should lock up at 45-50 mph right? that has not worked in over

a year even after the fluid change.

3. does the tv cable out of the tranny have anything to do with the converter & if it was out of adjustment, is there one for it? it seams to kick down ok and the fluid is clear and smells good still and shifts nice minus the lock up part.

I avg 23.8 miles per gallon at 65 mph at 60 miles a day most of which is highway. Im using Mobil 1 syn. tranny fluid & Mobil 1 syn. 0-30 motor oil, change filter every 3000 miles & oil every 6000 miles which stays clean and clear for the whole 6000 miles.

1) yes the pushrods can rotate while the engine runs.

2 & 3) Lock up should occur in 3rd gear around 35mph with light throttle. The shift into overdrive should be around 50mph. The converter will not lockup if you are hard on the throttle and will unlock first before it downshifts.

yes it worked for the first two years, then it just quit working one day while on the highway no extra shift point after the first two shifts . other than that no check engine light or codes of any kind! how about a fuse or relay of any kind ? thanks

There is a harness that plugs into the front of your transmission (you may have to remove your airbox to see it) Be sure that it is plugged in securely.

I will look into that more when it's light outkind of dark right now. Shift points are 25 mph then again 35mph light throttle and that is it. :willynilly: . If I can't fix it i will just drive it until the wheels fall off or motor or tranny quits.

In the event that that happens I got a 5 speed and a fairly new 3.1 n/a bottom end sitting around may be ill do the swap & include a set of 3.4 heads u/l intake , exhaust system. I wish it was not winter here i would do the swap right now.

I think it would take a month while working two job' s .

4 door 5 speed carworks out good for a family guy I guess my kids would enjoy it. :high5: :burnout: thanks for the input (:
