timbit_69 Posted August 17, 2003 Report Share Posted August 17, 2003 ok well.... i am looking at car pics and i notice on all of the other 3100 Sfi engines there is a MAF, on mine i do not have one.... i have an intake temp Sensor, but no MAF, who don't i have one and does it make a diffrence ????? the engine is in a 95 Base Lumina. or is it BC i am in canada that i don't have one ???(emissions) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Robby1870 Posted August 23, 2003 Report Share Posted August 23, 2003 No it wont hurt your car. Instead of a MAF, you have a MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure). This measures engine vacuum and then based on that reading, the ECM tells the injectors how much fuel to dump in. The MAT/IAT sensor you referred to, measure the temp of the incoming air. The ECM just gets this signal. I *think* the ECM only uses the MAT/IAT when the motor is cold.
