mattlgiberson
Okay...I'm not sure if this is where I should be posting this and I apologize to the admin if its in the wrong thread. I have a 1996 Cutlass Supreme with the 3.4L. Its got 212,000km on it and its beginning to show. The body is MINT other then a few stone chips but the engine and tranny are starting to go. The body is too nice to just scrap the car...so of course, put a new engine in it. I know the 3.4L are rather troublesome and the 3800 is like a rock. So my question is, has anyone put a 3800 supercharged into a Cutlass before and if so, how much of a pain in the ass was it? I've seen a few with the 3800 in the rear but never with one under the hood. If anyone could throw me a bone it would be greatly appriciated. Thanks Matt
oldscsc
It has been done multiple times, including transplants into CSC's. You should already have OBD II which will save you quite a bit of trouble. I don't know if they took the 4T-65E out of the donor car, but I would assume so, considering he 4T-60E has a hard time with the DOHC. Addicted To Boost
I can't imagine your 3.4 is worn out with 212km on it.. there are quite a few running around with a LOT more mileage on them.
mattlgiberson
That's what I thought to. My neighbours wife drives a 97 Monte Carlo with the 3.4L and it has nearly 300,000 on it. I just tend to have bad luck. I'm not sure what the problem is exactly. There's definitely a knock but I can't tell if its from the bottom end or top end. Hopefully top end but like I said...I have bad luck

95 vert
Pretty straightforward install. Wiring will be the toughest part. My 95 Vert has a L67/4T65 from a 2000 GTP. Let me know if I can help.

9lumina6
212K Km....... i think thats a hare over 130K miles...........shit i have 163K miles ( lil over 260K km) on my origonal LQ1 and 4T60-E in my Z-34........and thats still goen very strong........shifts like butter. I'd love to do an L-67 swap on it, since its origonally from New Mexico......but i already have the GTP. But hell......if u got the time and $$ to put and L-67 & 4T65E-HD tranny into it........why not.........it'd b a fun car when its finished (not to mension a big time sleeper)
mattlgiberson
That's the idea. My neighbour has a 2001 SSEI. He's put about $2500 into the motor and it cranks out just about 350hp now. You should see the looks on peoples faces when he leaves the in the dust. Talk about a real sleeper. I'm willing to put the money into it 'cause I LOVE the car....and I got all winter to do it. I just need to find a motor and tranny now. 9lumina6
And that's in a heavy ass Bonneville! Yeah.... and those cutlass's are even lighter then a 2nd Gen GTP........PLUS the L-67 motor overall is lighter then the LQ1.
