91LuminaEuro
So, i drove my car all weekend, drove it to school sunday moring. Drove it to dinner sunday night, and today drove it for a while, had to come back, parked it for about an hour and went to get back in and here is where the problem starts. It started and idled real low and reall choppy. Then it started to rev all by itself jumping the idle like 5-600 RMP all on its own. I dropped it into neutral so as to not plow into another car in the parking garage and played with the gas and it evened out. After i got it to stop it seemed to run fine..drove it to the store and back and had no problems... I have no idea why it was magically revving like that..anybody have any thoughts? oldscsc
Well, the computer was dumping fuel. Maybe it is running lean and the computer is trying to compensate.
91LuminaEuro
Any thoughts as to what would cause it to run lean? Its been running fine as far as i can tell. Only thing i have done was throw in a bottle of injector cleaner yesterday (sunday) morning. Im going to the shop 2morro and throwing the computer on it to see what its doin, check the IACs and all that fun stuff...hopefully its nothing major... I had a similar in the past but it was due to injector problems...hope its not the computer...i can't afford that right now.... Im a senior in college and im in the process of applying to grad school..this is the last thing i need.. Anyways, let me know if anyone has any thoughts.. Thanks
19Cutlass94
Sounds like what my car was doing. id slow to a stop, and it would wanna stall, but the RPM's would jump back up. After a while it cleared up, and sometimes it didnt. You can try running come injector cleaner through it, check the fuel filter, fuel pressure, or it could be a tps. If it happened just once i wouldnt worry about it too much. Mine was happening every day, and was very random. Unless it becomes a consistant problem, dont worry about it too awful much. 91LuminaEuro
Well about a year and a half ago that was what the car was doing, i woudl slow to a stop and as i would go to pull out it would stall.. (yes thats what she said) Anyway, i almost died when it woudl stall in an intersection a few times so i parked it until i figured out what was wrong... Im just hoping it doesnt turn into that again happening frequently... Blahh..thanks for the help...
19Cutlass94
yeah check the tps and iac espcially, then go after the FPR, and fuel pressure. make sure the injectors are good.
