front end vibration

I already did a search but found nothing that helps.

My problem is I just had my tranny rebuilt and now I have a vibration in the front end at speeds over 45.I went to one tire shop they told me it was the hub bearing so,I replaced that it still there.I went to another tire shop they told me it could be the axles or the motor mounts plus they told me to take it back to the tranny shop and let them drive it.I did and they told me it wasn't the axles or the motor mounts. They put it on the lift and let me look with them all we saw was worn lower ball joint and outer tie rod so,I replaced them and still have the vibration. When I'm driving at speeds over 45 the vibration starts and if you turn the wheel to the passanger side you can feel it more. The passanger side is the side I feel the vibration in.

If anybody can help please help.I'm really lost what it can be.I even moved the tires around and it still does it.

Thanks,

James

It didn't do it before the tranny swap? My first guess would be that the half-shaft is not all the way into the tranny. On the 4T60 trannys in the TGP's there is a detent clip that must "pop" into place. Look at the CV joint end where it goes into the tranny and see if there is a clean shiny spot exposed. You should not see a shiny spot as it should have gone all the way back in and be covered by the seal.

I would demand the tranny shop look into it more as you say it did not do this before the tranny was replaced... 8)

I replaced the tie rods, ball joints and hub bearings.

No it didn't do it before the tranny was rebuilt.I'm going to call the tranny shop again on monday to have them look at it again.

Could the axle be making this vibration?

Thanks,

James

Just a stab in the dark...could it be the torque converter maybe, the speeds of 45 and over and a new tranny makes sense that it could be something with the torque converter. Probably not, but just a guess.

take it back to the tranny shop and have them check the axles like TGPilot said

the r&r guy may not have got it in all the way

i know when i was an r&r guy rushing i did not get one in all the way

i did not road test the car but my boss told me it was out and did not explain how he knew but i would have them check that

good luck
