genEus
Sorry I'm not experienced with drum brakes but on my 99 Lumina the rears pulse like a mofo. I know it's the rears cause I just put brand new rotors and pads in the front. So, do I need to replace the drums, pads or both? Oh yeah, 53k miles, and I'm pretty sure they're original. Thanks!! oldscsc
Might be the rotor. Even though you just replaced them, they can be warped from the factory You can thank the Chinese for that. Maybe not the most probable thing, but it's possible.

Doubt they have quality control issues... And, the brakes pulsed before too, they didn't just start...
genEus
Anyone? Basically I don't know if rear drums can be causing this and if they need replacing or not. I went to eBay and while I can see tons of rotors being sold, I didn't see a single drum, which made me think they're not as popularly replaced, (or at all), which led me to my post here... Andrew
well you'll want new pads no matter what. drums can be resurfaced too instead of just replacing them, if they are not too bad. save ya some coin that way. you are feeling a pulse in the brake pedal and not just hearing a pulse right? AL
The rear drums could possibly be warped. Turning (resurfacing) them will take away the problem unless the are warped beyond spec.
intern8tion9l
they are cheap enough to just get new ones rather than resurfacing
1990lumina
If you hit the ebrake while driving and the car shakes like crazy then yeah, resurface or replace them with some white box specials - I doubt the rear brakes do a whole lot of work.
