compu_85
My sister's 02 Grand Prix has developed some running problems. Under WOT it studders at mid to high RPMs. When you start it sometimes it stalls right away. Sometimes it is hard to start. Sometimes it stalls when you come to a stop. I hooked up a fuel pressure gauge and the pressure seems stable, even when it stumbles. Fuel filter is new. Injectors were just cleaned (she took it to the dealer and their "fix" was to replace the filter and run some BG cleaner through it. Spark plugs were done in the last few years, I don't remember how long its been. Any suggestions where I should look next? -Jason

Andrew
no codes are being thrown?
compu_85
NA 3800, no fault codes with a generic OBD reader. I just remembered the plugs were done at 90,000, it has 111,000 on it now. I think the wires are original. The problem has been getting worse over time. When it wasn't as bad as it was now using gas that wasn't E10 helped. -J
Andrew
i would ohm test the injectors. and pull a spark plug or two to make sure they look good.
compu_85
What should the injectors be reading?
Andrew
IIRC somewhere in the 12-14 range. all injectors should be within .1-.2 of each other.

slick
Can you pull a scan on the vehicle?
compu_85
Like I said, a generic OBD tool didn't find any faults. I found that really strange with how much it "misfires" under load. My friend as an autoenginuity cable, we're going to try that later today. -J
slick
Yeah, try to pull a live scan. Plug wires are pretty cheap, if they are original, i'd go ahead and toss on a set for good measure.
Andrew
i was gonna say too, its coming up on 100k, there are a few things its due for. plug wires like Slick said, 02 sensor, clean the MAF. they likely wont fix the problem but its good to stay on top of the maint. compu_85
Ok, replaced the wires and now the power is back. But it still has the problem were it starts then dies right away. I'll pull a plug tomorrow after its cooled off and see what it looks like. There were / are no pending or stored DTCs. The 02 sensor output has a nice wave pattern to it. I'm surprised the dealer didn't replace the wires when they did the plugs at the 80k service. -J
compu_85
The starting problem turned out to be the fuel pressure regulator. It was leaking fuel into the vacuum line. The IAC was sticky / dirty too. -Jason
