tell ya what, i'll rebuild it for you and iwont charge you money, all i charge is a working rebuilt 3.1L turbo engine. Deal???

lolz, just playin man, welcome to the board, and since i beet everyone else here, The search function will help you - inside joke kinda

umm, no idea on your car, bad rings???

also, where are you at and if i paid you, would you be willing to pull the complete motor and ship it, and i will pay for the motor, shipping and a little sumething extra for your time

Not trying to screw you out of the deal, but i have a built 3.1 that i am turboing and that motor would save me all kinds of time.... then i dont have to have parts fabbed...

well actually yes, i am trying to screw you out of the motor, but it will be well compensated screwing - is it just me or did that sound odd to you???

Well i always knew it was a steal, so what do you think about puttin it in my Z34???? how hard would that be, and not only that, i wonder whats wrong with that engine, and how easy it is to fix/rebuild?? and how easy to wire it up, will harnesses match??

Everything would bolt up, but u would have to use the turbo's computer and harness. The hardest part would be the chassis wiring, but y not just turbo/rebuild the Z?

It wouldn't be to hard to do Tim G has already done it, if not fix ur car for now buy a 3.4 at the j-yard and build it up n/a, I know u can get like a easy 250 out of it.

nothing from the tgp setup will work with the 3.4

and you cant just drop the tgp engine/harness in your car, as you have an electronic transmission. would need engine and tranny, or get creative with chip burning skills and use the 3.4's harness. either way its not a simple swap.

what mods can i do to get 250 n/a hp from the 3.4???

Talk to Aaron + Vegeta. Go beyond the installation of basic bolt-ons.

Deal with the timing and valvetrain.

Consider boring out the throttle body / plenum and port + polishing the heads.

funny, i just found a junkyard Turbo STE and i bought the motor for $350 which included the radiator, intercooler, wiring harness + ECM, all plumbing, downpipe, exhuast manifolds, but no turbo (i have one anyway). the car ended up in the junkyard because the turbo went out on the previous owner (oil in lower pipe & bottom of intercooler and the turbo was gone). i'm assuming it was too expensive for him to fix. he then defauted on his car loan and deserted the car (can you believe that!) and then it was loaded up on a flatbed truck and found its way to the salvage yard.

the LG5 motor has 111,000 miles on it and is sitting on my garage floor right now waiting to be 'freshened up' and i need to find a good 5-speed.

anyway, for $200 i would certainly jump on that deal, ecspecially if you get the radiator and intercooler and everything else you would need. as for turbocharging a 3.4 DOCH, i don't know much. i've seen Tim G's car a few times now and ridden in it a couple times (very fast) and the installation is very clean but also pretty tight. the only member on the forum here that i can think of off the top of my head that has done an LHO -> LQ1 swap is patgizz.

good luck

Wow now you guys are workin my brain out, lol the Z34 is just waitiing to rape some more hondas lol but im tryin to figure out what to do, im no expert with engines, so i dunno, but that 3.1 turbo is sounding tasty, but id want to get a getrag 5 speed for that, that would be killer lol but hmm turboing the 3.4 would definetly be off da hook, wow, anyone on this site from TX, maybe we could go and look at some stuff together, its hard finding Wbody enthusiest around here so yah.

ive thought about that, but personaly ive only seen maybe 2 Wbodys with 5 speeds, neither were in the junk yards lol but would a 5 speed from a Beretta GTZ or GT work seen a few of those in the yards oh yah, how hard is the removale of the ol 3.4dohc just for rebuilding/fixin??

personal opinion time.

fix the 3.4, run a good exhaust and good air filter, and put in a 5 speed. the 5 spd swap alone will make you really happy.

actually i completely agree even tho i favor the 3.1 turbo engine over a n/a DOHC 3.4. a 5-speed manual (either the W-body Getrag 282 or 284) WILL make your car SOOOOOO much more fun to drive, and you'll have much better acceleration and probably better gas mileage. my 5-speed is a Getrag 282 that came from a '90 Grand Prix. i just blew 1st thru 3rd gear out in my 282, so i need to replace it. about 8 years ago i had an '88 Corsica with a 282, and i blew that one up too. this time around i'd really like to get the beefier 284, but if something happens to it i'll have to send it to Getrag in Indiana for a rebuild since no parts are available for a 284. i've found several 282's, but only one 284 that is sitting in a 108,000 mile Z34 at the local salvage yard here. the car was rolled so i'm assuming the engine and tranny are ok. heck i might end up buying the complete drivetrain ----- anyone in Colorado want to go in on it for the DOHC engine? all i want is the 284...

anyone know what tranny is in the Beretta GTZ ?? and how do those GTZ's run??

Getrag 282's. The GTZ's are one of my conveted Chevy coupes.

I used to own a 1989 GT (2.8L / 5-speed) and the Quad4 GTZ's would eat me up.

However the Quads' are notorious to eating up stock head gaskets.

And, yes, the gear ratios between the L-Body and W-Body are different.
