Well, let me throw something..

Check all fluid levels and topped them off. ie, coolant reservoir level, oil level, maybe brake fluid level, etc.

When the car is on an incline, then the fluid is not level and the sensor would think they are empty or low and then you will get the SES light ON, but when the car is level then all fluid goes back to being level and the SES light turns off.

I occasionally get the same problem. Coasting in gear for a while from highway speeds the SES light will come on. This is not dependant on incline or anything..

I know, I know, check the codes.. Does the ECU store the codes? Because upon restarting the car, the SES light is gone.

I bet you'll get an EGR code

I second that idea.

Us W-Body owners usually have clogged / dirty EGR's.

Check the codes and see what's up.

Had that happen with my beretta w/ 3100. Kept running the codes, even with a new EGR. Just get in there with some crap that will take out all the carbon, should help.
