Crazy K
so.... now you know what I have found and will be pulling. however, the engine is milkshake oil ridden... and a few engine parts are missing. I am thinking of getting a passable LO Q4 from a different yard (for less) and using the HO cams in the LO engine.... thoughts? I once joined a Q4 forum, but cannot locate it now.... Andrew
the best Q4 site IMO is Quadfourm also, if you are going to go thru all this trouble, make sure to find a 086 casting head, and IIRC the 92-93 intake plenum and exhaust mani's, all these flow best. the peeps on that site will know for sure though. mfewtrail
Ken, www.quad4forums.com might be the one you joined. I took a quick look there and they're in the process of moving to a new host, so the board is A LOT different right now than it used to be. I cannot even login there at the moment, it tells me there's no such user. It looks like everyone is having to reregister....hopefully they get things straightened out with the old usernames though. I remember browsing that board a while back and seeing that someone had a turbocharged quad 4 in the neighborhood of 500whp. The board used to look like this: http://74.125.45.104/search?q=cache:BaLiORlGW_wJ:www.quad4forums.com/forums/index.php%3Fs%3D+quad+4+forum&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=2&gl=us

They're a bit hard to come by because they crack so frequently

QUESTION!!! what about using a quad 4 block with a newer twin cam head and the Q4 HO cams? I know the HO head cam be stuck on a twin cam with some modification, but with a few mods and modifictions, it may prove to be more reliable in the long term........ Addicted to eaton
It better be the supercharged one! them m-90 that bish for some kick ass bost!
Crazy K
Everytime I hear Q4 and engine problem, the phrase "catastropic engine failure" always comes to mind It must not be that bad, because modified versions made a lot of power. A modded Quad 4 held the record for highest ever specific engine output back in the day with 1,270 hp from 121 cubic inches. I have joked over and over about a two engine car... how about 8 cylinders of Q4? one with an auto in the rear and a manual int he front? blow one and I can still drive home! Crazy K
I got the motor and tranny out. I bought the front springs, the ECM, the cv shafts, and the grills because they looked good. $$$$ and I have to go there tomorrow and get the motor and tranny and the rest too. plan... stuff is returnable... so I will be taking back a few parts I have that I plan not to reuse. I still need to figure out.... they also have a LO Q4... since this HO Q4 is full of chocolate milk, should grab the other and mix and match block, heads, and cams to get the best parts? IS THERE A Q4 GURU IN THE HOUSE?

5speedz34
Doubtful. I know some stuff about it but probably not much than any other member on here. IIRC-I think Hot Rod magazine took a early Q4 and put a set of 2.4 Twin Cam heads on it and it made tons of power. Wait, what about that one guy who's sig had him with the race flag and the GA behind him?

spiderw31
IS THERE A Q4 GURU IN THE HOUSE? I'm no guru, but I do know of a couple guys over on www.fiero.nl that have done a bunch with the Q4. I haven't spent much time over there recently, so I'm not sure if he is still there, but there was one guy that had a wicked turbo Q4 that he was running. 5speedz34
Search the web I know I saw it a few years ago. What about W41 parts?
Crazy K
GOOD: I now have a mostly complete Q4 with a 5 speed from a 1990 CS. BAD: When I arrived there this morning, the car was GONE!!!!!!! the engine and tranny were on the ground under the car. they were there by the car had already been crushed. Lost are the W-body only front Q4 dogbone mounts, right frame horn bump stop, the shift cables, shifter, shift knob, boot, and plate, the clutch hydraulics, clutch pedal, firewall plate, clutch activated neutral safety switch, a complete coil cover, the oil air separator and the I can only fathom what else. I scrounged and found a 88 Berretta GT w 2.8 5 speed, a 93 sunbird with 3.1 5 speed, and a 92 (or 93?) Achevia SC with 2.3 HO Q4 5 speed. I took the shift cables and shifter from ALL three of these cars... and they all appear to be the same length and interchangeable. the Achevia clutch hydraulics are the closest to the proper ones, at least it has the same slave cylinder. total cost (including core charges) about $
ManicMechanic
No VIN, huh... See if you can find the VIN on the engine, I can get it from there.

ManicMechanic
Ken - that car does have the HO Q4 (VIN A)...And possibly one of the LAST HO Q4 CSs made, I do not have ANY other A VINs that late. The Achieva is also an HO 4 car, but doubtful if it's a W41 car.
