chadz34
So, when I accelerate, I can hear a knock once the engine moves as well as letting off the gas, I can hear a knock. AFAIK the LQ1 has 3 motor mounts, I know I need the one under the hood replaced, but how will I know which lower mount is making the racket? Can anyone help out here? Thanks
5speedz34
There are 3 engine mounts and 1 transmission mount. With the miles on your car I would just replace them all. It's too bad you got your transmission replaced since it would've been a perfect time to do them then.
88red4cyl
It's probably the lower motor mount, but like he said, now would be a good time to replace all of them... They're getting older anyway, and it'll save you some headaches on down the road...
5speedz34
Realistically 100-150k is when I would replace stock mounts.
White93z34
more then likely the front lower engine mount is failed, I believe it is the only fluid filled one on the car so that makes it a prime candidate for failure. personally I would go with a solid rubber one in place of it, thats what I did and I haven't looked back. Crazy K
I think it is funny... that I have never experience a bad mount. well... if you exclude Pschomatt's TGP...
5speedz34
I've had plenty of bad "mounts." I would get a fluid filled one unless you plan on seeing the car hit 500k. It won't go bad while you own the car. I agree with that that's probably the one bad.
