EurosportZ34
I just recently purchased a '92 Lumina Z34 with the 3.4L DOHC V6. While driving my car I notice that the 'Serivce Engine Soon' light comes on frequently when the cars has 'warmed up', but I turn the car off and start it up again and the light stays off. What gives?? I also own a '91 Lumina Euro with the 3.1L MPFI V6 and this light has never came on before. What's up with this light??? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Redfox340
Well, a Service Engine Light idicates a problem with the powertrain. Each main circuit of the motor is tied into the Electronic Controlled Module (ECM). If a sensor or circuit falls out (higher or lower values that what's expected), you'll see a SES light. To figure out the code on your On-Board Dignositic (OBDI) system, ground the dignostics ports together. A paper clips can be used; check W-Body Performance - Computer Dignostics for more details. Once grounded, read the code(s) and compare on W-Body.com - ECM Trouble Codes. From there, it's bascially finding the circuit to faulty sensor that creating a problem. Piece of cake! Best of luck! - Erik
Slade901
Did you check the oil fluid level when the engine is cold?
