rockfangd
ok this started this past weekend it sounds like something is bouncing around on the right front. whether i hit a bump or go over a curve i hear the noise. At first i thought i was crazy or maybe an interior panel loose from my recent swap, but in a matter of days it has gotten substancially louder. So now i have the bad clunking on the left rear and now this on the right front . The 2 things that come to mind is that the strut cartridge may have loosened up (dont know how it would after a year), or my strut mount randomly went. I lifted every corner yesterday to shake everything down and i came up with nothing anywhere. I am getting too tired of not finding anything and other people not finding anything lol, maybe if i am lucky my wheel will fall off so i can say oh thats what it was lolol Ok so tonight it is getting to the point i can feel it and hear it over the music When i got home tonight i tried to shake that corner and i got play only when i pulled at 2 oclock, it pulled in and out a bit. I was starting to worry it may be my subframe but i really hope not
rockfangd
ok so this week i pulled the cap off of the strut tower and i see that everything appears to look normal and i checked to see that the mount was tight and it was, so before i try a new mount i want to be sure that is what it is. All i can say is when i am by myself it sounds terrible but with a passenger it sounds bad but not as bad. So what do i have to do hire 2 friends, one to sit in the right front, and one to sit in the left rear The noise in the front i would have to say is definately worse than the noise in the rear and it came on more sudden. Even if i go over a small dip in the road i can hear something clunking and i can feel it in the wheel and under my feet. My question is is it possible a strut mount could make that much noise in the front and still look normal??
rockfangd
well yesterday was too much to be able to drive the car so i had to figure it out today, and thank god I did because it could have been much worse. Somehow after almost 2 years of having the strut cartridges done the right front strut cartridge nut loosened all the way off and the cartridge was hitting the bottom of the knuckle I have no idea how it happened but i am sure glad i didnt find out the hard way. So i cleaned everything up, checked the threads for damage(shocked that there wasnt any) and tightened the nut down with a dab of loctite. I am going to have to check on these once in awhile i guess. The only benefit to the situation is that it did not cost me anything but 20 minutes lol.
