Piston.Hurricane Posted September 28, 2008 Report Posted September 28, 2008 Guys, I'm looking into trying to save a little coin by buying a new OEM dual muffler exhaust system for my '99 Monte from one of the online GM parts suppliers. I see a bunch listed, but I'm very proficient at unknowingly picking crooks to deal with. Can you guys point me to a good source? I've already installed a system I pulled from a wrecked Z34 in the JY. Unfortunately, even though the muffs were solid on the outside, I fear the horrible noise from my rear end is indicitive of some rusted/faulty interior baffling in one muffler. Idling, it sounds pretty sweet. At speed, my beautiful car now intermittenly sounds like it's dragging a garbage can. I took a gamble and lost. Help a brutha out. PH Quote
Crazy K Posted September 28, 2008 Report Posted September 28, 2008 stock? Why not check out the group buy section for the aftermarket system? Quote
kwk39018 Posted September 28, 2008 Report Posted September 28, 2008 It might be cheaper to just take it to exhaust shop.Or you could put on a set of dynomax mufflers or something like that. It's really expensive form Gm. Quote
Piston.Hurricane Posted October 18, 2008 Author Report Posted October 18, 2008 I ended up finding a solid cat-back system from a Z34 in the junkyard. I cut it off after the resonator, spray-bombed the mufflers and had a shop graft it onto my original system. Presto...3.1 with two mufflers. It definately sounds a lot meaner too. Quote
