Captain Ficho Posted September 26, 2008 Report Posted September 26, 2008 Past two days, it has done this three times. My car will randomly start blowing hot air at about mid-fan level out of the vents and the ECC unit will go completely blank(normally displays outside temp and says 'off'). Even if I press the off button, try to turn down the temp or even change which vents it blows through I get nothing. In other words, my climate control goes completely dead and it blows hot air, to which I have no self defence, I just have to take it. Generally when I turn my car off, then turn it back on, everything goes back to normal. What's wrong, is my ECC done for or is some wiring funky or what? Thanks for your help guys. Quote
Crazy K Posted September 26, 2008 Report Posted September 26, 2008 sounds like you need a new HVAC control unit. Quote
ZoomZoomFan Posted September 26, 2008 Report Posted September 26, 2008 Or a priest. Can cars have excorcisms? Quote
rockfangd Posted September 27, 2008 Report Posted September 27, 2008 lol my dodge intrapid does the same thing. It is a failsafe that blows heat through all the vents on a #2 speed setting to get you where you have to go but you cannot control anything Quote
w-bodys_are_the_best Posted September 27, 2008 Report Posted September 27, 2008 Now that you'e fixed the rust on your car, it has no more use for you, it is now trying to cook you and eat you when you least expect it, scary stuff man. Quote
grandprixnyc Posted September 27, 2008 Report Posted September 27, 2008 sounds like the ECC controls went south on you. I'd look for a replacement. Quote
Crazy K Posted September 27, 2008 Report Posted September 27, 2008 I can provide a replacement... Quote

LOL When I read this, all I could picture was you driving down the road with a dejected blank stare on your face as you are getting blasted with hot air. But seriously it does sound like a bad HVAC unit. rockfangd Posted September 28, 2008 Report Posted September 28, 2008 is there any possible way to fix them lol. It is such a common problem on the dodges that i dont even want to go and pull one lol Quote
