oldscsc Posted September 20, 2008 Report Posted September 20, 2008 My torque converter locks up (overdrive) at 47 MPH. I was wondering 1) how to go about lowering that speed and 2) what are the disadvantages? Most of my driving is either at 55 MPH (locked) or 40 (unlocked, revving higher than at 55 MPH). Thanks Quote
Crazy K Posted September 20, 2008 Report Posted September 20, 2008 disadvantage is that the tcc clutch is too weak to take too much abuse. that might burn it out. I've long thought that a lower stall converter would improve efficency, at a slight cost to performance. The 95 ciera has a 1650 stall converter vs the w-body typical converter of around 2050. Quote
oldscsc Posted September 20, 2008 Author Report Posted September 20, 2008 Well, I don't want to burn up the clutch so that won't be happening any time soon. Thanks for the info Crazy. Quote
