krenzy
Question about my Gen 2 3800... Hey, so my A/C compressor is making a weird grinding noise...and I don't wanna deal with it. My options are replace the unit, or fit a new belt onto it. I'm opting for the latter presently. Can anyone give me a length of the belt if it wouldn't route over the A/C? Thanks! White93z34
Can't be done. Options are, buy a compressor, or buy a delete pulley. I just got a good used compressor, having AC again with that black interior was a godsend.
dbtk2
Yea you'll have to get a delete pulley or replace the compressor. You can mostlikely find a used one pretty cheap on clubgp or from ed morad. When people put the ac deletes on they usually just about give away their old ac compressors. krenzy
How hard is it to remove and replace the compressor?
Andrew
if there is no freon in the system then its not bad. IMO you dont want to try to purge the system yourself if its not.
White93z34
On a Bonneville It is easy. just remove the fan in front of it, and then 3 nuts on the front of the compressor and one (or is it 2) bolts on the backside of it. disconnect the hoses, one nut, and the wiring and pull it right out the top.
