Nick1234 Posted September 19, 2008 Report Posted September 19, 2008 01 Impala LS last year American installed a DEI remote start 561R What else was installed with that unit? anything? what is the security bypass module? Occasionally, when i start the car with the remote, it tries to start itself, but won't. then when i put the key in, the security light flashes and i still can not start it by key. i have to wait 11 minutes with the key on, turn it off, then start the car. new battery, new ignition lock cylinder....... i have also had this issue when trying to start the car with the key, but with the new lock cylinder, it has been fine. slick Posted September 19, 2008 Report Posted September 19, 2008 With the new lock cylinder, have you had any troubles with the remote start? The bypass module could be losing it's value, or possibly not programmed correctly, hard saying. Quote
Addicted2bass Posted September 19, 2008 Report Posted September 19, 2008 Did you have these problems before the lock cylinder was changed? The bypass probably needs to be reprogrammed. Quote
Nick1234 Posted September 19, 2008 Author Report Posted September 19, 2008 i had problems both ways. one time with the remote, one time with the key. i have not had any issues starting it with the key since i installed the lock cylinder. Quote
slick Posted September 19, 2008 Report Posted September 19, 2008 Yep, reprogram the byapss then. Quote
slick Posted September 19, 2008 Report Posted September 19, 2008 Also, I have seen this as an issue as well, but depending on how they hooked up the bypass wiring, or even what kind of bypass module it is, i've seen the connection create too much resistance, throwing everything out of whack. Quote
