I think my cat might be going bad but im unsure.

I have a new oem cat that i bought for my 89 2.8 gp but never put it on.

my question is will this cat work on my 95 3.4 cutty? its also about 7 years old

and i always recommend replacing the 02 sensor when you replace the cat. just makes sense.

x2!

but it is a major pain to get to, and sometimes breaks when you are trying to get the O2 sensor off...

why not just put a straight pipe in it?

Just remember one thing cats don't die they are murdered. So if yours is bad there could be something else wrong

Yup, last month my ICM went bad and misfired on two cylinders. That dumped enough fuel to make the Cat glow red hot after a minute or two. Wound up killing it

i dont think i will put in a straight pipe, i wanna keep a cat there i think

Well if it went bad due to other reasons im hoping those problems are already fixed. i have replaced just about everything that could be replaced besides the cat and icm but if i change the cat and get good life (even for a little while) i will change the icm and check out whatever else i can.

its not glowing at all, at least not yet so i can only hope...

straight pipe FTW

trust me....I get a little better mileage and power

x2!!!

you will feel a little more kick on the highway, it is kinda fun! and the little bit of backfiring is always a plus!!!!

not only that, but you can smell the gasoline! woohoo!

Wellllllll...if you've still got the original piping under the car......the dia. of the pipe in front of the cat is not the same as the dia. of the pipe going to the mufflers.....2 1/2" (3.4 eng.) into the cat....and 2" to the resonator & mufflers.

Again.....if the original pipes are still under the car.....the back end of the cat will have a square flange with 4 bolts on it that the intermediate pipe is fastened to by the same.....if you put in a straight pipe you'll need to remove the flange on the end of the intermediate pipe and use the reducer to get the proper dia. needed.
