Well i tried to find my original post about whether i wanted to change my fuel pump or not, and well my car made the decision for me yesterday.

My cutlass has gone 5 years without ever leaving me stranded till yesterday lol (It was nice while it lasted)

I drove to work and back yesterday and i had a hair appintment at 5:00pm (rush hour) So i was driving like any other day i have ever driven my cutlass and i stopped at one light and it felt a little different (thought it was because i had new shoes on lol) and so i disregarded it and continued driving and when i went to accelerate from the second light it revved up and then i never even felt it quitm so i fiddled with the shifter in neutral (i think my trans switch is out of adjustment a little) and started the car, went to accelerate and it died. So after i pulled it home i checked the fuel pressure and i had 2lbs .

So my lesson is even when you may think something is fine you just never know.

Ot was like blowing a light bulb. It had run perfect before this happened but I had an idea. SO i guess i am doing my tank, straps, filler tube, and pump

It was funny watching my car being pulled because i have never had to do it before lol, i wanted to take a picture to post but i didnt have my phone on me

well i did it today and i have to say it was the hardest i have done yet, due to the rear bolts being above the monoleaf and having no access like the other ones i have done that you can fit an extension into. Also everything broke , I broke all of the quick disconnect lines that were seized on, i broke 3 out of 4 bolt anchors so i just cut the straps off. I think the hardest part was getting the rear bolts into the holes without losing fingers.

I went with carter because that was the only thing i could afford on top of the new tank (old one was shot) the straps, and fuel filter, lines, ETC... This one took me nine hours to do.

the new pump came with a repair harness but i did not install it because the wires were too thin for my liking so i fully tested and inspected my wires and they were fine, minus the loose black wire that goes to the level sender.

After all of the BS i am happy to say it started right up, It wont leak anymore when i fill the tank lol (Hopefully), The new pump went in perfect and i can barely even hear it but yet it is pumping 41 to 45lbs.

If the car isn't rusty AND you don't have much gas in the tank, pump changes really aren't that bad...

What w-body ISNT rusty around the fuel tank to make this job easy? Even my Lumina would've been a PITA.

And well, the only two times I did helped do a fuel pump, one time was on a 92 Safari AWD in the rain, in a hotel parking lot...and the other was this summer on a rusty Lumina parked in grass/gravel, with the rear of the car "jacked" up by the rear tires sitting on two other wheels.

carter is hit or miss. Chris in Pa white93z34 said he got one carter that was stamped Walbro, and it was great. the next was marked carter, and it was horribly loud.

I guess I should have directed you to advnaced auto, where you could have got a Bosch for cheap.
